Ice Bowl Season

IMG_0567_2I just shoveled out from 30″ of snow and I’m slipping on the sidewalks, must be Ice Bowl season again. The Ice Bowls are sort of a national series of  disc golf events all held on different dates but all benefitting an areas local food bank. Many leagues will hold an Ice Bowl event annually at their home course. I have three to choose from – or
I can go to all of them if I can raise the money. These are unsanctioned events, so I don’t earn points or anything like that – it’s just a fun round where you play loose, buy some mulligans, trash talk your friends. Last year’s Ice Bowl at Boulder Woods was memorable because there was a good amount of snow on the ground already and it started snowing as we headed out to the tees and got worse as the day went on. We played standing on the lake down near the temporary Peninsula Hole they put in. When the lake is that frozen solid you can play across the lake and back. Ice makes for some awesome skip shots.
