Kicking off the year

My disc golf season always starts out with a trio of Ice Bowl tournaments.  The Ice Bowl is a charity event benefiting area food banks. It’s a good way to raise a little money for something with immediate need and it has an immediate impact. If you’re interested in running an Ice Bowl at your local club follow the link above.

My first event of the year was on my home course so I theoretically had an advantage but historically I haven’t always done so great. Mulligans could be purchased for an additional donation so that was fun. We were tied up heading into the last couple holes so we had a side-bet going, no more mulligans till the end so that made it interesting. All in all a fun event, good playing for a good cause.

The second event was at Creekside, which presents the distinct possibility you throw your disc in the creek on about 16 of the 18 holes. I ended up filling out the Am Masters card that day which was nice since experienced disc golfers always come prepared and we had a a couple of good disc retrieval tools with us. I ended up in a good battle with my buddy from Lancaster Bill Erdly. He had the lead Erdly but I caught up Slater on and took home a win and a swank new knit cap.

Next up is Boulder Woods on Feb 18.

One last thing, thanks to my sponsor Savage Ultimate Apparel – Use coupon code SQUADFAN453 to get 15% off your purchase.
